SYNOPSIS

Highways of Life is a detailed look at the high octane lives of Manipur’s highway truckers. The film follows a group of truckers as they manoeuvre through the highways of North East India, putting their lives on line, ferrying essential commodities to serve the people of the landlocked state in the midst of two intense public movements played out on the roads.

about the director

Maibam Amarjeet Singh (Amar Maibam) is an Indian filmmaker and cinematographer from Manipur. Amar was drawn to independent filmmaking because of the creative freedom to tell human stories. He made his directorial documentary debut  with City of Victims (2009)  and has directed four documentaries and a fiction television series (Doordarshan) thereafter. His second documentary My Generous Village won the special jury award and best music direction award at the Manipur State Film awards 2019. His NAWA- Spirit of Atey won the Best Documentary award at the 2nd Nagaland Film Festival 2019.
